Why go to bed when you can play the accordion, dance underwater ballet, and hold burping contests with strange alien lifeforms? For every kid who ever came up with an outlandish excuse for why it can’t be bedtime yet, these froggies’ antics will delight and entertain. Acclaimed illustrator Adam Gustavson’s raucous authorial debut shows parents there’s more than one way to do bedtime.
If you love frogs you will adore this book! Here are my pros and cons for The Froggies Do Not Want To Sleep:
- The images are hilarious! This book is worth it just to see frogs in tutus performing an underwater ballet, frogs on unicycles, frogs jousting with plungers, and a number of other ridiculous things rather than sleeping.
- The concept is pretty simple… it is just about frogs who come up with a bunch of things they’d rather be doing than sleeping!! If you have a reluctant sleeper, this book of excuses might be familiar to them and to you! Perhaps this book could encourage kids to come up with a silly thing they’d rather be doing than sleeping. I mean, if the kiddos are going to try to think of ways to stay up anyway, perhaps exercising their imaginations might be at least a positive thing to do, right?
- Spoiler to parents – the froggies do fall asleep at the end. 😊
- It ended rather abruptly for me, but kids won’t care one bit.
There is no lesson here and no advice on how to get the froggies to go to sleep. It is simply a silly, fun adventure about what some frogs are doing to avoid getting some rest! Kids will love it!
